OUT OF OFFICE
Galerie de l’Espace de l’Eurorégion Alpes-Méditerranée - Bruxelles
01 November 2008 - 20 December 2008
The Fonds Régional d’Art Contemporain (Regional Contemporary Art Fund) of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and the Institut d’Crt Contemporain, Villeurbanne-Lyon (Institute of Contemporary Art) have invited Code, a Belgian magazine devoted to the emerging art scene, to design an exhibition and a program of evening events based around a group of works from their collections – a selection inspired by the world of office technology as represented by the exhibition site, the Espace Eurorégion Alpes-Meditérannée (Gallery of the Alps-Mediterranean Euroregion Space), located in the heart of the European quarter.
Out of Office is the title of the automatic e-mail message sent when the person you have contacted cannot reply, generally because they are on holiday. A standard response which, like everything else in the office aesthetic, suppresses all trace of individuality. CODE offers eight installations in which the artists take possession of the territory of the office, all the better to escape it.
• The artists:
Basserode, Alain Bublex, Claude Closky, Fabrice Hyber, Stéphanie Nava, Guillaume Pinard, Thomas Ruff, Tatiana Trouvé.

DE PASSAGE
In the context of Ultra Belg(e): Art Centre 104, Paris
2009
For the event Ultra Belg(e) in Paris, a week dedicated to Belgian creation in the fields of fashion, design, music, gastronomy and visual arts, CODE proposes the exhibit De passage which focuses on notions of movement, displacement and change, via a selection of emerging artists living in Belgium.
Respecting the principle of “passage”, the collective intends to explore a blurry though eminently fertile zone: the mysterious moment of transition from one state to another, the unstable equilibrium or balance, whose onset is sometimes unknown but which invariably transforms us.
• The artists:
Francis Alÿs, Stephan Balleux, Ruben Bellinkx, Jean-Baptiste Bernadet, Xavier Mary, Fabrice Samyn, Kelly Schacht, Satoru Toma...
